The Mayor of Stockton has officially opened a new community radio station.

Councillor Barbara Inman visited Hardwick based Ignition Radio, based at Hope House in Hardwick, Stockton, to meet volunteers involved in running it.

Mayor Inman, pictured above with station manager Marcus Summerfield and Teesside Community Charity manager Tony Beards, said: “It was a real pleasure to formally launch this exciting new station.

“Ignition Radio will provide entertaining, informative and engaging content for listeners of all ages from within Stockton Borough and beyond.

“The team here at Ignition are passionate and dedicated individuals who have previously done great work in helping our young people to access volunteer opportunities in community media.”

Ignition Radio is an online community station, operated by a voluntary organisation, which aims to provide listeners with an eclectic mix of hit music and local grassroots content.
