Middlesbrough FC’s very own Roary the Lion was the special guest at the official opening celebrations of Darlington Building Society’s new Middlesbrough branch, located in newly-refurbished premises in the heart of the town centre.
Roary was on hand for photographs with dozens of Boro fans, young and old, who came along to join in the festivities to officially open the new branch, based on Linthorpe Road. Children were invited to enter a colouring competition, there was face painting and one lucky family won the prize draw for a sought after family ticket to Middlesbrough’s final game of the season against Brighton.
Following a significant investment by Darlington Building Society, the new look branch offers a warm and welcoming feel and has been designed to provide an enhanced customer experience. As well as the traditional counter, comfortable one-to-one discussion areas and confidential interview rooms, the opportunity has been taken to provide a seated service point which is ideal for customers opening accounts and those with pushchairs or wheelchairs.
The new look branch is part of an ongoing investment plan that has already seen the Society’s Tubwell Row, Darlington and Stockton on Tees branches being refurbished.
Louise Thorpe, branch manager of the new Middlesbrough branch, (who bravely volunteered to have her face painted as a tiger) said: “We always aim to continually improve the customer experience and we have received very positive feedback from customers and visitors on the new design and layout of the branch.
“Customers comment on the excellent personal service we offer and this certainly hasn’t changed but we believe the new location is more convenient and also offers much better facilities.
“We were delighted so many people turned up on Saturday and they were very complimentary about the new branch. Roary was a star and young and old alike had great fun posing for photos with him!”
