Local independent opticians Cooper & Barr have teamed up with award-winning restaurant Brasserie Hudson Quay to loan ready reader glasses to customers.
Customers who take advantage of this unique idea will get high quality-visibility over the menu when dining at the popular Middlehaven restaurant.
Cooper & Barr, a family run business spanning over three generations, have been in the optometry industry since 1925, and this new initiative supports their focus on caring about eye health.
Nicola Cooper-Heenan, co-owner of Cooper & Barr, pictured (above, left, with Brasserie Hudson Quay owner Julie Volans, said: “We’ve chosen this partnership as we feel it’s something that reflects our company’s ethos.
“As eyecare professionals, we often hear from our clients that they struggle to read the menu under the ambient lighting in restaurants – particularly if they’ve forgotten their glasses.
“When the need for reading glasses is an essential part of life, there is always panic when we forget them. So we wanted to put a stop to that.
“Although we do encourage our patients to ensure glasses are professionally prescribed; ready readers are a great short term fix for spectacle wearers when dining out.”
Cooper & Barr are currently celebrating 90 years in the optometry business with three successful practices across the Tees Valley, County Durham and North Yorkshire area.
The products they offer are wide ranging, from designer eyewear to contact lenses for adults through to children.
They also specialise in glasses trends, making sure the latest styles and shapes are available throughout each practice. Customers can choose between the major brands stocked including Tiffany & Co, Prada and Michael Kors.
Cooper & Barr are providing customers at the Brasserie with a short-term solution for reading the great menu, all those that take advantage of these glasses and complete an entry form will be placed in to a prize draw each month for a £50 voucher to spend at Cooper & Barr.
