Tees businessman Daniel Robinson has won a top gong at the national Institute of Directors’ awards ceremony in London.
The chairman of Hartlepool-based Gus Robinson Developments was crowned SME Company Director of the Year at the glittering ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel.
The category was open to directors of smaller companies, and Daniel beat off competition from 13 other directors from around the UK to take the honour.

Robinson, who took over the running of the company in 2011 following the tragic death of his father Gus, said: “It is always nice to be recognised in this way.
“There were some excellent entrants in all of the categories, so it was quite an honour to just make the shortlist.
“But to get the main award in such a prestigious ceremony is one of the highlights of my career, and it is testament to the hard work and commitment shown by everybody within the company.”
A spokesman for the Institute of Directors said: “The IoD holds these awards every year because we believe in the value of leadership.
“In big corporates, small businesses, the public sector, charities, the difference between success and failure is leadership.
“Directors who win these awards have been recognised as the best in their field by the organisation for business leaders, the IoD.”
