Teesside-based chartered surveyor and property consultancy Sanderson Weatherall has acted as agent for the sale of a Stockton office building to the northern arm of one of the UK’s largest trade unions, GMB.
Acting on behalf of Fairstone, one of the UK’s largest chartered financial planning firms, Sanderson Weatherall secured the sale of the property at Belasis Business Park in Billingham.
Belasis Business Park is an established business park with a number of office units and tenants.
The premises comprise a modern 1,850 sq ft detached single story office accommodation finished to a high specification.
Internally, the premises are partitioned to provide a mixture of individual office, meeting room and open-plan office accommodation.
Belasis Business Park is situated in the centre of Tees Valley just two miles from the A19, giving fast north-south connections.
With Darlington Main Line train station 13 miles away and Durham Tees Valley Airport just 17 miles away, the site offers excellent access to the rest of the UK and beyond.
Commenting on the sale, Billy Coates, GMB Northern regional secretary, said: “GMB Northern is pleased to purchase the property at Belasis Business Park.
“The one storey modern office accommodation and its interior layout is ideally suited to GMB’s operational needs. The premises are also strategically situated to provide effective and efficient service provision to GMB members in the Durham and Tees area.”
The GMB has more than 639,000 members across the country, with 70,000 in the northern region including Teesside.
Its members work in nearly all industrial sectors including retail, security, schools, distribution and the utilities, social care, the NHS and ambulance service and local government.
Craig Stobbart, associate partner at Sanderson Weatherall, said: “The GMB Union is a high profile organisation, so for us to be involved in a project that gives it a base in the Durham and Tees area is a great opportunity.
“This property is ideally positioned and benefits from excellent facilities, so we are very happy to have sold the site to the Union, allowing it to expand its presence in the region.”
Sanderson Weatherall has regional offices in Newcastle, Teesside, Darlington, York, Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Exeter and London, employs around 200 people and has a turnover of £14m.
The firm provides a complete range of property, machinery and business asset services across a range of sectors. These comprise retail, residential, offices, industrial, leisure, roadside, healthcare, public sector and third sector.
