Tees businesses helped to raise almost £10,000 at the Stockton Mayor’s 2016 Charity Golf Day.

The Mayor of Stockton, Councillor Ken Dixon, hosted the popular fundraising event at Wynyard Golf Club this summer, bringing together 38 teams competing for the top prize.

The winners were Geoff Walsh, Jim Hibbert and Rob Coulson from Wynyard Hall with Paul Mackings as their team captain.

A raffle was also held to raise money towards the final figure of £9,500.

The event was held to raise money for the Mayor’s chosen charities Bowel Cancer UK, who are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life for all those affected by bowel cancer, Butterwick Hospice, who care for as many people as possible who are living with a progressive life-limiting illness and Meningitis Now, the only charity dedicated to fighting meningitis in the UK.

Mayor Dixon said: “I am delighted at the amount of money raised and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved both in organising the event and to those who took part.

“Their effort and generosity is reflected in the spectacular figure generated for these charities who do so much to help people living across Stockton.

“It was an extremely enjoyable way of supporting my nominated charities and raising awareness of the important and invaluable work they do to help others.

“I hope everyone enjoyed taking part in the golf event – congratulations to the team from Wynyard Hall on their victory.”
