Six Teesside-based businesswomen have made the shortlist of potential winners of the prestigious annual North East Women Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

The shortlist features Lisa Holt (The Creative Alchemist), Nichola Reeder (12th Man Solutions), Jacqueline Gallazzi-Ritchie (All England Gas Services), Joanna Wake (RAW Digital Training), Claire Moore (School House Recruitment) and Sharon Olivero-Chapman (The Stottie Company).

Now in its 17th year the awards celebrate women’s achievements in a range of sectors from Heart of the Community to Best Small Business.

Supported by global computer business Sage and the North East England Chamber of Commerce, there were record entries for the 12 categories and they cover the length and breadth of the region.

The judges, Nickie Gott and representatives from Sage UK, Durham Constabulary, the Chamber and last year’s overall winner Jayne Dolder, this year were looking for exceptional examples of women entrepreneurs who punch above their weight and deliver great businesses.

Pictured (above) are some of last year’s businesswomen award winners with the awards founder and Nickie Gott, including (left to right) Ruth Plummer, Newcastle University; Jayne Dolder, Bazaar Group; Nickie Gott, She’s Gott It Events; and Leisa Docherty, Sage.

Gott said: “We have a truly amazing group of finalists this year. It was extremely difficult to decide who should go through to the grand final in November but we believe we have the selection which represents the best women in our region.

“To help everyone get the full details of what these women have achieved we will also compile a series of films about their work.”

Tickets to attend this year’s North East Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Awards evening on Friday November 11 are £85 + VAT and include drinks reception, a 3-course meal and live entertainment.
