A multi million-pound clothing warehouse, which is to be home to 400 new jobs, has opened on Teesside.
More than £15m has been spent refitting the unit at Wynyard Park, which will distribute clothing for George at Asda.
The warehouse, which is run by Leeds-based Clipper Logistics, covers 840,00 sq ft, with the design allowing for further growth to 1.2m sq ft.
It is the largest facility of its kind in the region and will handle up to three million items of clothing a week.
Carl Muir, of Clipper Logistics, said: “This facility is vital to Asda. We take clothing from Teesport where it arrives into the UK, and within 24 hours it will be at regional distribution centres all over the country.”
Asda has signed a 10-year deal for the site, which takes in clothes manufactured mainly in Asia.
