Poundworld, one of the UK’s leading value variety retailers, has announced that it will be opening a brand new store in Middlesbrough town centre early in the new year, creating up to 15 new jobs in the process.
The 4,700 sq ft store, which will be located in the Cleveland Centre, will replace the company’s existing store on Linthorpe Road in the town. The new store will be spread over three units on Cleveland Centre’s central mall, close to the Corporation Road entrance, new Disney pop-up store and former BHS site.
The store will sell over 6,000 products from leading brands, including Coca Cola, Cadburys, Colgate and Johnson’s. Items on offer will cover categories such as grocery, cleaning, health and beauty, pet care, toys and stationery at unbelievable prices to help local shoppers save more on their weekly shop.
Adrian McCoy, area manager at Poundworld, said: “We’re excited to be relocating our store in Middlesbrough town centre.
“We’ve been hugely popular with local shoppers since first opening in the town in 2002, and as a result, we’ve decided to move into a bigger unit within the Cleveland Centre, a prime shopping destination.
“At Poundworld, we’re committed to helping people access their favourite brands at the best possible prices, and save as much money as possible on their weekly shop in the process. We very much look forward to welcoming the first customers through the doors of our new store in the new year.”

“It is fantastic to have another big name brand join our existing base of around 60 national and local retailers. I am certain the store will prove hugely popular.
“Following the recent openings of the pop-up Disney Store and Fashion Boutique, the Poundworld store will also help to bring new verve to that end of our Central Mall that was previously affected by the closure of BHS.”
Poundworld, one of the fastest growing retailers, has over 350 stores nationwide and plans to open a further sixty stores annually for the next three years. The opening date for the new store will be announced in the new year.
