One of the most high-profile business personalities on Teesside is leaving the region for a new role.
PD Ports CEO David Robinson is to become director of operations for the port’s parent company, Brookfield.
Robinson, who was the cover feature in the Winter 2016 issue of Tees Business, has also been named chairman of PD Ports.
“This move will involve my relocation to the Brookfield offices in London,” said Robinson, who was appointed in 2006 after joining the company in 2002 as managing director.
“I will, however, regularly visit PD Ports’ operations in my role as chairman, as I continue to work on developing the strategic future of the business with both Brookfield and the PD Ports senior executive team.”
PD Ports has also revealed two promotions to the board as well as changes to the senior executive structure.
Frans Calje will take over as CEO, with full responsibility for leading the overall performance of the business with and through the executive and management teams, reporting to chief operating officer Roberto Marcogliese.
Jerry Hopkinson, who along with the other senior executives will report to Frans, will become chief operations officer and vice chairman.
Robinson added: “These appointments will significantly strengthen the already positive relationship between PD Ports and Brookfield, as we work on the delivery of major projects like MGT, Trafigura and the Tees Container Terminal development and the growth of our other business streams in Teesport, Humberside and elsewhere.”
“We have made some excellent progress over this period and PD Ports is well positioned to continue its growth under the new leadership.
“As chairman, I will retain a very active engagement within the business and I look forward to securing further success for us all.”
