Park Electrical Distributors stands proudly as the North East’s largest independent electrical wholesaler with a near £20m turnover.
It has branches in Teesside, Sunderland, Gateshead and Newcastle and specialist divisions covering lighting design, industrial services, energy solutions and building technologies.
But it is the Teesside branch that is in celebratory mood as it raises a glass to its first anniversary on Riverside Park in Middlesbrough.
Since relocating to a 15,000 sq ft premises incorporating trade counter and extensive warehousing, the branch has increased its headcount from five to eight. This includes an Electrical Distributors Association (EDA) trained apprentice who, upon successful completion of his apprenticeship, is now in full-time employment with the company. The branch will also be welcoming a new apprentice to its team in the coming months.
With the first year’s turnover of several million the branch has ambitious plans for growth in excess of 50% in the next 12 months. This is very much in line with the company’s overall objective to attain a £30 million turnover in the next five years.
Tony Arena, Teesside branch manager, said: “Riverside Park has proved to be an ideal location for us, just off the A19 it is very accessible to customers and staff. From here we are well placed to service projects from North Yorkshire to Northumberland.
“Our clients are quite rightly, very demanding. They want from us a strong product choice, speed of delivery, reliability, in-depth product knowledge and that we can offer advice and solutions for those projects they find particularly challenging. And that is what we give them.
“There is positive anticipation that Teesside is about to go through a period of change and with that comes a natural call for the products and services we provide. To this extent, we see 2017 as the year in which we begin to build even stronger relationships with building and electrical contractors and heighten our profile amongst end-user companies and organisations operating in the region’s dynamic public and private sectors – particularly those in manufacturing and pharmaceuticals.
“In addition to our role as a wholesaler, we can offer both trade customers and end users a truly value added service via our lighting design division. We are immensely proud of our track record of providing bespoke solutions that generate significant long term energy savings that are also proven to increase productivity, raise staff morale and are good for the environment.
“This expertise allows us to transform investment in lighting into profit, very quickly. Many customers report energy savings of over 50% and up to 90% especially those that migrate from sodium to LED lighting.”
In the last year the branch has supplied product and specialist design advice to projects at MFC Football Club, James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, Georgian Theatre, Stockton-On-Tees, Biddick Academy, Washington and Glanbia Foods,Middlesbrough, and Fork In The Road , Middlesbrough.
Tony added: “At the Teesside branch we are looking forward to a dynamic year as we continue to seek out new opportunities and deliver innovative solutions for our customers.
“As part of our first year anniversary celebrations we have been looking at ways to give back to the community and we are proud to become a sponsor of Dormanstown FC, a Redcar-based football club to whom we have supplied new strips for the under 10 team. We are sure that this will be just one of a number of community initiatives we will be involved in as we continue to grow.”
