Tees law firm expands its partnership with two female appointments

A Teesside law firm has expanded its partnership following the internal appointment of two female partners.

Stockton-based Archers Law LLP has promoted Zoe Tansley and Vicky Browning to partner status in recognition of their hard work, commitment and contribution to its success

The firm already has four women in the business at partnership level and the new appointments now take that to six.

Tansley joined the firm in July 2014 as a family solicitor. She was made an associate a year later in October 2015 before being appointed head of the family and matrimonial unit in 2016 when she assumed management responsibilities for the team.

“I’m so proud to be a part of this step with the firm and to have senior involvement in a business that is going from strength to strength.” said Tansley.

“I’m looking forward to being part of its progress in the coming years and developing the family services that we offer to individuals and families in the area.”

Browning, who is responsible for developing and implementing the firm’s strategic business plan as practice director, started her career in a business development role before being appointed to the firm’s management board in 2015 in which she then took a lead role in non-legal aspects of running the business.

She said: “It’s wonderful to become a partner in such a strong business that has real integrity and drive, especially as the first non-lawyer partner the firm has ever had.

“The management team has always given me the support I needed throughout my career and I am proud to take a senior position within a business that I have had over 10 year’s involvement with.”

The non-lawyer partner appointment has been made possible as a result of its recent approval from the SRA to operate with an Alternative Business Structure licence.

This gives the firm better flexibility with senior appointments and allows the firm if it wishes to look at new funding and business opportunities in the future, many of which are not possible under the traditional legal partnership model.

The appointments come at a very exciting time for the business which has recently been selected as a finalist for ‘Law Firm of the Year 6 plus partners’ at the Northern Law Awards, and bring the total number of partners to nine.
