Media interview training courses run by Tees Business co-editor Dave Allan have won praise from Middlesbrough Council.
Two of Teesside’s biggest companies, who between them employ around 1,300 local people, have previously hired Middlesbrough-based DNA PR & Publicity to freshen up the media interview skills of their senior management team.
Having already run two courses for PD Ports, Dave – assisted by his Tees Business co-editor Martin Walker – is set to run a third course for chemical giant SABIC, following a recent success with newly appointed managers within Middlesbrough Council’s Economic Growth management team.
Debbie Ingoldsby, the council’s investment and growth manager, said: “The training was excellent.
“It was relaxed and informal and, whilst we were all nervous from the outset, Dave’s easy-going and professional approach made it a really enjoyable and worthwhile training session.
“The course is wholly recommended for anyone who is required to speak on camera or radio on behalf of their organisation.”
The courses focus on preparing management staff to face the media in a variety of challenging scenarios, whilst providing participants with do’s and don’ts and a range of interview tips.
Dave, who has worked in the PR and media industry for more than 30 years including extensive spells at ICI and Middlesbrough FC, said: “The sessions are great fun but pack a punch with a series of thought-provoking but very realistic scenarios that participants may find themselves in when facing the media.
