Diners at Teesside’s most decorated restaurant can now treat themselves to a unique blend of coffee designed especially for them.
North Yorkshire coffee roasters Rountons helped the management and staff at Chadwick’s Inn Maltby choose their own blend which is now being served to customers.
The ‘Chadwicks Blend’ is a chocolatey espresso put together exclusively for Chadwick’s Inn using the finest coffee beans which are fully traceable and sustainably sourced.
Chadwicks’ joint-owner Helen Gill said: “We’ve been sourcing our coffee from Rountons for a long time and through a conversation they suggested we come up with our own blend.
“We went for a cupping session at their premises in Northallerton – which is just like wine tasting but for a coffee – and they then came back with some samples which we were able to test.
“We wanted to have something quite unique, and while you’re always tempted to go for something you personally like, you have to choose something which you know is going to be popular with customers.
“We’re really happy with the end result and we’re already getting a lot of positive feedback.”
Rountons have also spent time with Chadwicks staff, showing them how to make the best coffee.
Helen added: “Our restaurant manager Luke Conroy has had some Barista sessions with Rountons so he’s our in-house expert now.
“But the majority of our staff have also had training sessions on how to make the best cup of coffee every time, by always making them with freshly-ground beans.”
Chadwicks were celebrating again after retaining a prestigious Michelin Bib Gourmand award for a third successive year this year.
The restaurant is again the region’s only to receive the much sought-after accolade, exclusive to Michelin Guide-listed restaurants offering exceptionally good food at moderate prices.
