‘Women’s roles in businesses have been understated’

Wynyard Park development director Matt Johnson on why Developments by Joseph Homes is supporting the first-ever Tees Businesswomen Awards…

We’re incredibly proud to be one of the sponsors for the very-first Tees Businesswomen Awards, in association with Northern Skills Group.

Too often the key role that women play in our business is quite understated and unheralded. Perhaps there have been misconceptions from previous generations but there’s little doubt that women are now coming to the forefront in so many business sectors.

That’s why I and my colleagues at Wynyard Park and Developments by Joseph Homes believe the awards are a great way to showcase women in business in the Tees Valley.

We’re of the opinion that it’s important to acknowledge, showcase and reward the crucial role an increasing number of women are playing within our local business scene.

The Tees Valley region is such a strong area with strong people, with many traditionally male-dominated industries but all that is changing fast.

So these awards will help to raise the profile of our successful businesswomen, shine a light on their strength in the region and the contribution they’re making to local businesses and our region’s economy.

Equally, the awards can only play a positive role in giving ambitious young women – whether they’re studying at college or university or they’re in the early stages of their career – the inspiration to drive on and fulfil their potential.

We’re looking forward to seeing what are sure to be high-quality nominations and particularly the diverse range of Tees organisations whose businesses are powered by women.

It’s an exciting prospect to think we’ll be helping to inspire the next generation of female business leaders.
