The Bay Horse, the restaurant voted the region’s best by Tees Business readers, is celebrating its 10th birthday.
Situated in Hurworth, near Darlington, The Bay Horse has won a string of awards since owners Marcus Bennett and Jonathan Hall opened the gastro-pub in 2008.
Along with being voted the region’s number one restaurant by Tees business leaders, the long list of accolades for the foodies favourite has included the Michelin Bib Gourmand, while Marcus was awarded GastroPub Chef of the Year.
The Bay Horse has also been listed in The Mail on Sunday’s top 50 places for Sunday lunch, The Times’ top 50 gastropubs, the inspectors’ choice in the Michelin Pub Guide and has regularly featured in dining bibles such as The Good Food Guide and the UK Michelin Guide.
The past 10 years have seen Marcus and Jonathan open two more equally popular restaurants, Muse and Cena, both on Yarm High Street.
The duo, who employ a team of more than 100 serving in excess of 2,500 meals per week across their three restaurants, are set to open The Devonport Hotel in Middleton One Row following a major refurbishment.
Marcus said: “The Bay Horse was our first joint business venture and continues to hold a special place in our hearts.
“The last 10 years have flown by and we’ve enjoyed every minute. We’re so grateful to all our customers, whether they be regulars or those passing through, and want to say a big ‘Thank you’ to them.”
To celebrate the 10-year milestone, a special dinner will be held at The Bay Horse on Friday September 28 featuring a pre-dinner glass of fizz, canapes and a three-course dinner of classic Bay Horse dishes.
Throughout September, all guests enjoying an evening meal will receive a complimentary glass of fizz, while the restaurant’s popular weekday Market Menu will be extended to Fridays too.
