An online puzzle company has added an important piece to its profit jigsaw after opening a new Middlesbrough town centre store in time for Christmas.

Festive gift shoppers can now buy jigsaws galore at Jigsaw Puzzles Direct in the Cleveland Centre.

The online retailer has just opened an outlet in Newton Mall in Middlesbrough’s largest shopping centre as a temporary Christmas store.

It’s a traditional move for Jigsaw Puzzles Direct, who have previously had four pop-up Christmas stores open in Middlesbrough, Darlington, Sunderland and York.

The new Cleveland Centre store is their sole shop opening this Christmas, however, as the East Cleveland-headquartered business is currently carrying out a warehouse extension, doubling it in size from 6,000 sq ft to around 12,500 sq ft.

But Charles King, managing director of Skelton-based WCIB Marketing, Jigsaws Direct’s parent company, is expecting it to be worth the firm’s while.

“Christmas is always a successful time of year for us with jigsaws making the ideal present,” said King – pic tured above (left) with Cleveland Centre manager Graeme Skillen.

“It’s always worth our while opening a store in Middlesbrough, which has a vibrant town centre, especially at Christmastime.

“We normally don’t open until October 25, but we have opened earlier this year and it’s fantastic to be in the Cleveland Centre.

“It comes at an exciting time for us as we extend our warehouse and double it in size, and hopefully we can outgrow it over the next few years as well.”

Up to 750 different types of jigsaw puzzle will be available once the Cleveland Centre store is fully stocked, suitable for toddlers to adults.
