PR and marketing agency DTW is celebrating after picking up a hat-trick of awards at the Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ (CIPR) North East PRide Awards.

The team beat off competition from across the region to win Regional Campaign of the Year and Best Public Sector Campaign for its work on the new Northern Spire bridge in Sunderland.

And team member Hannah Cheetham was a star of the night as she also won the gong for Outstanding Young Communicator at the awards, held in Newcastle.

The CIPR PRide Awards is the UK’s most prestigious nationwide PR awards scheme, recognising excellence in public relations and communications across the UK.

Annually, it attracts around 1,000 entries from public relations teams, consultancies and individuals across the UK.

Guisborough-based DTW, which was earlier this year ranked by PR Week as the number one public sector PR agency in the UK outside of London and Glasgow, specialises in infrastructure and public sector PR and marketing.

As well as strategic PR and marketing, DTW has also launched video and animation divisions in recent years and has worked for clients from as far afield as Paris and Vancouver to provide support on projects around the world, as well as across the UK.

Its team of 14 works for clients across the UK including the Law Society, Mersey Gateway Project, Road Safety GB North East, SUEZ, Financial Conduct Authority and Northern Spire.

Strategist Hannah Cheetham said: “It was an amazing feeling to win Outstanding Young Communicator and I am just so pleased.

“It was a bit of a blur on the evening and a bit surreal hearing my name read out as the winner, but this is a real career highlight.”

Managing director Chris Taylor said: “The whole team has delivered some brilliant results this year and I was delighted that this hard work and success has been recognised in this way.

“I’m particularly pleased for Hannah because she has been a real star since joining us four years ago after she graduated from Teesside University.”

Founded in 1948, the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is the Royal Chartered professional body for public relations practitioners in the UK and overseas.
