The awards will recognise and celebrate the organisations and individuals thriving within the Tees Valley’s fast-growing digital sector together with the local companies driving their business through digital transformation.

Among the awards presented to organisations and individuals will be the inaugural Tees Tech Company of the Year and Tees Tech Business Leader of the Year, while other categories will recognise local tech leaders in export, innovation and partnership.

Darlington-based Recognition PR, which boasts an impressive list of clients based all over the UK, is sponsoring the Best Newcomer category.

Recognition founder and senior partner Graham Robb said: “Tees Valley is establishing itself as an innovative hub for technology businesses, playing its part in helping the UK’s digital sector become a cornerstone of the 21st century economy.

“Digital is not siloed within its own sector; what it can offer is integral to the operations of businesses in every industry. This creates significant opportunities for our forward thinking, creative technology firms.

“The area has made great strides in creating a digital cluster that can help attract and retain talented people and it is important to showcase their talent, ingenuity and entrepreneurialism.

“The Tees Tech Awards provide the ideal opportunity to celebrate the area’s vibrant and growing digital sector and we are proud to be a sponsor.”

David Dixon from DigitalCity, co-founders of the inaugural Tees Tech Awards, added: “We’re delighted to have Recognition PR on board for the inaugural Tees Tech Awards.

“The company is very well respected regionally as well as nationally and Graham Robb is a very high-profile character in our region, so it’s fantastic to have someone of his standing involved with the first awards event.

“The response to the idea of an awards event for the Teesside tech and digital sector has so far been fantastic, and with the entry deadline fast approaching we’re looking forward to seeing the quality of entries for all 11 categories.”

As well as headline sponsors Digital City and Middlesbrough Digital, and Recognition PR, the Tees Tech Awards are being sponsored by Punch Robson Solicitors, Middlesbrough College, Communicate, Jacksons Law Firm, Tracerco, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Baldwins Group and Davies Tracey as category sponsors, with HR Alchemy and Abacus Bean sponsoring the drinks on the evening.
