Chadwick & Co, the popular café and coffee shop based in Barker and Stonehouse’s Teesside Park store, has set up outside to offer a range of Mediterranean-inspired summer dishes to take-away.
Barker and Stonehouse stores re-opened on Saturday following the introduction of comprehensive new safety measures, but the in-store cafes will remain closed for the time being.
In spite of the closures, Chadwick & Co has been busy throughout lockdown, teaming up with Barker and Stonehouse to deliver meals to local customers, including those in isolation as well as NHS staff at nearby hospitals.
The fare has proved incredibly popular and the new takeaway truck – a vintage Peugeot horsebox – is the latest venture for the resourceful Teesside restaurateur.
Open from 10am to 5pm, customers can tuck into an array of home cooked Greek and Italian food, from mezze boards to sourdough pizzas as well as fresh coffee and cold drinks.
Daryl Chadwick, owner of Chadwick & Co, said: “Over the last couple of months we have been overwhelmed by the demand that we’ve had from regulars and we’re excited to be back serving customers at the Teesside Park store.
“Converted from an old Peugeot horsebox, the new van is full of character and kitted-out with everything that we need, including a pizza oven. It’s been great to see the community really come together during this time to support local businesses and we’re doing everything we can to keep everyone safe, and well fed!”
Customers can order food from the van itself or pre-order dishes to be collected at a certain time.
James Barker, managing director at Barker and Stonehouse, said: “Visiting Chadwick & Co is all part of the experience at our Teesside Park store so we’re delighted that by using the food truck we can continue to offer freshly cooked food from a fantastic local business.
“We have been really pleased by the positive feedback from customers who have visited the store so far and we want to ensure that the experience is the best, and the safest, that it can be.”
Chadwick & Co are continuing their home delivery service and orders can be placed via their Facebook page.
