The shortlists for the much-awaited inaugural Tees Tech Awards are due to be revealed from Monday.
Organisers Resolution Media and Publishing – the team behind Tees Business – have agreed a deal to host the virtual event with a small number of guests at Teesside International Airport on August 20.
The event – launched in partnership with DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital – will be beamed live on YouTube for thousands of virtual ‘guests’ to enjoy online.
The Tees Tech Awards will recognise and celebrate the organisations and individuals thriving within the region’s fast-growing digital sector together with the local companies driving their business through digital transformation.
More than 90 entries were received for the 11 categories, and it was revealed earlier this year that the shortlist and winners in each category will be decided by a panel comprising representatives of the category sponsor and the sponsors of four other categories – with the total overall scores dictating the winners.
That means even the sponsors won’t know who’s won every award until the big night.
After the scoring process was completed by judges in the last week, Tees Business will now reveal the three-strong shortlists for the 11 categories over the course of this week.
Two award categories will be revealed every day starting on Monday, culminating with three award shortlists – Company of the Year, Business Leader of the Year and Tees Tech Ambassador – being announced on Friday.
Tees Business co-editor Martin Walker said: “We’re really excited that we’ll be revealing the shortlists over the course of this week.
“The shortlists in every category are incredibly strong, with some fantastic entries showcasing just some of the brilliant work being done by our tech and digital sector.
“We’re delighted that we now have a date, a venue and now the shortlists after a lot of uncertainty following the pandemic.
“We wish all the shortlists all the very best of luck, and offer our commiserations to those who didn’t make the final three.”
Resolution would like to thank main sponsors DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital for their continued support, along with category sponsors Punch Robson Solicitors, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Tracerco, Jacksons Law Firm, Communicate Technology PLC, Baldwins Group, Davies Tracey, Recognition PR and Middlesbrough College.
