Boro chairman Steve Gibson is said to be joining Ben Houchen for a series of “major announcements” around the South Tees Development Corporation site today.
It will be Bulkhaul boss Gibson’s first public appearance since reportedly offering Neil Warnock the Boro manager’s job for the 2020-21 season.
Tees mayor Houchen has invited businesspeople to join him and Gibson on Facebook Live as they lay out a number of key developments for the STDC site at Redcar.
“I would like to invite you to join me and my vice chair, Steve Gibson, and special guests (on Tuesday morning) as we make a set of major announcements that will unveil, in detail, how we’ll transform the 4,500 acre South Tees Development Corporation site,” Houchen said in an email to busines leaders.
“Now that we have the land and we’re moving closer towards local transition with one organisation for one site, we’ll explain to you – and the investors, landowners and stakeholders were talking to, as well as the businesses and people of the Tees Valley – just how we’re going to get this site oven-ready for the investments that will create thousands of jobs.
“This site will be the biggest game-changer in decades for the economy, businesses and people of Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool.
“And to get it to a position to unleash its potential to transform Tees Valley, we’ll need to deliver the biggest demolition programme this region has ever seen.
“These are exciting times for the Tees Valley, with our airport having reopened this summer and now going from strength-to-strength, and our programme of investments delivering and making a difference across the region.”
Houchen says he and Gibson will reveal the plans on Tuesday morning – we’ll bring you more later.
