Reigning champions Chadwicks Inn Maltby were challenged by three past winners, 2016 champions The Crathorne Arms, 2017 winners Muse of Yarm and 2018 poll-toppers The Bay Horse in Hurworth.

You must read the autumn issue of Tees Business to find out who came out on top in the four-way battle of the champions.

A year of change and Covid has seen several of last year’s top 20 ceasing business including Acklam Hall’s The Brierley (4th last year), The Curing House (5th) and Bistrot Pierre (14th).

But dozens of local business leaders gave us their top three restaurants to help us create our annual top 10.

Tees Business executive editor Dave Allan said: “Our thanks to all who took the time to vote for their best local eatery. Restaurants have never needed our support more than they do now.

“I’m sure plenty of our readers will look down the top 20 and see a few restaurants they haven’t yet tried or perhaps one or two where a return visit is long overdue.”
