Law firm Jacksons continues to offer career opportunities to young people in the region with the further recruitment of apprentices at its Teesside and Newcastle offices.
Lucy Dawes, from Ingleby Barwick, a former student of Conyers School where she studied for her A Levels, has joined Jacksons’s residential conveyancing team in Stockton, while Brogan Perry, formerly a sixth form pupil at St Leonards school in Durham, has joining the firm’s new build team in Newcastle.
Jacksons has been supporting apprentices for several years, in collaboration with apprenticeship programme providers in the region, including Learning Curve Group and Middlesbrough College.
Offering them real experience of working in a law firm, the apprentices are based across a range of departments including finance, conveyancing, commercial property, private client and reception. The new appointments take the total number of apprentices at the firm to ten.
A number of new initiatives have been launched internally to help the apprentices with their personal development and career progression.
Recently, an Apprentice Club was formed where they meet the managing partner Jane Armitage and HR manager Zoë Tweddle regularly to share best practice, personal experiences and visit other organisations, socially-distanced.
Zoë said: “At present, 13% of our team is made up of apprentices. I personally feel that we are very lucky to be able to tap into a local talent pool in this way.
“At Jacksons, we offer genuine career opportunities to those who are committed to completing the programme.
“It is rewarding when you see the potential in these young people and can offer them full time employment at the end of their apprenticeship. In fact, we have recently offered two apprentices permanent roles in our Teesside office.
“We will continue to recruit apprentices when there is a business requirement, growing our talent and promoting from within.”
Jacksons Law firm is one of the North East’s longest established law firms and has been practising in the Tees region for over 140 years.
Operating from its head office in Stockton, an office in Newcastle upon Tyne and office space at the North East Business Innovation Centre in Sunderland, it is well placed to assist clients across the region on a wide range of business and personal legal advice.
