A Wynyard-based firm that provides services to help North-East businesses with loans and financial support has become the latest advocate of the Tees Businesswomen Awards 2020.

FW Capital will sponsor the wine package for the Tees Business-organised event which is taking place virtually on January 14, 2021.

“Our region’s businesswomen who have worked their socks off this difficult year really deserve recognition,” said FW Capital chartered accountant Alexandra Gent.

“We’ve been aware of the Tees Businesswomen Awards since their inception and understand what a fantastic role they play in championing women.

“During the last five years, FW Capital’s female workforce has increased and we now have more than 50 per cent female employees in all roles, which is unusual in finance. Historically, young women might have felt excluded from specific sectors and it is so encouraging that this is gradually changing for the better and is being highlighted by initiatives such as these Awards.”

Alexandra knows the standards are high for the Tees Businesswomen Awards.

“I’ve met last year’s Businesswoman of the Year, Sharon Lane, on a few occasions and been incredibly impressed by her,” she said.

“Our region has been traditionally based in heavy industry. Through her role as CEO of Tees Components, Sharon has proved that a woman can excel in what has been a male-dominated arena. She’s a role model for young women in our area who may have aspirations of moving into a similar field.”

FW Capital also understand the importance of new technology and being on the social media radar.

“The Tees Businesswomen Awards are fantastic for raising your profile online and, given the burgeoning tech sector in the Tees Valley, we know that being involved as sponsors of the awards will raise not only the profile of our wonderful local ladies but our own as well. We look forward to the outcome of this year’s event.”
