A Business Support Helpline is set for a festive relaunch to guide and advise the Tees region’s businesses through the stormy seas of Covid restrictions.
In our second week of a second national lockdown, the Tees Valley Mayor and Combined Authority recognise that our local companies need more clarity than ever about the support that is out there for them.
With the government once again launching new funding packages to help businesses, a dedicated Business Support Helpline gives companies of any size across Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland and Stockton-on-Tees up-to-the minute, reliable advice.
Set up during the first UK lockdown, the helpline – which is operated by Stockton-based call handling provider Lemon Business Solutions – has fielded thousands of enquiries and proved so popular that within its first week it became a 24-hour, seven-days-a-week service.
As well as providing specific advice to businesses across the region, the helpline highlights the national and local support available to them, such as the government’s Job Retention (Furlough) Scheme, Kickstart and how to access business grants.
Where needed, the service is also directing callers to other organisations and resources which can provide the appropriate advice.
The call centre was one of a number of initiatives created to help local firms during the initial lockdown, which also includes the Buy Local Tees Valley website.
Buy Local is a virtual shop window online platform that enables businesses still operating during the restrictions to advertise their goods and services, while people in the Tees Valley and wider North-East can find out which businesses are open.
Due to lockdown restrictions, this free service has been relaunched with the festive market in mind, to ensure as much money as possible is spent at local businesses, helping to drive a big boost to our economy at a time when it needs it most.
