Middlesbrough’s Close Protection Security (CPS) continues to go from strength to strength after sealing an extended partnership with one of its long-term clients, MAP Group UK.

Already the provider of rapid response, site security and security driving work for MAP at its Preston Farm HQ in Stockton, CPS was the obvious company to call on when the technology services specialist won a lucrative new £42m contract and needed additional security services.

The state-of-the-art infrastructure is forecast to boost business productivity and innovation, which in turn will help our region to recover from the economic downturn of Covid.

“It was absolutely fantastic news for Mike and Matty Carlin and their team at MAP Group,” says CPS managing director Glenn Bartlett.

“We were thrilled to be asked to work alongside a company who are already well-respected clients, and we look forward to seeing them flourish even further.

“The contract is a massive boost not only for them but for the Tees region, and we celebrate their success.”

Glenn, Mike and Matty have an excellent working relationship built on trust and shared values.

“Both companies opened training academies in our respective sectors, at our headquarters, so we could train people to our own high standards,” says Glenn.

“Perhaps our shared vision is the reason we work so well together.”

CPS already handles security for a number of the region’s biggest brands including Middlesbrough FC, Teesside International Airport, Rockliffe Hall, AV Dawson, Scott Bros and Cleveland Fire Brigade.

Recently they provided security for Netflix series The Witcher while it filmed in the North-East and supplied security drivers for the ITV’s Vera, which is also being filmed in the region.

In addition, CPS provide the security, transport and guidance for two local professional boxers who have gone into camp with Hughie Fury.

At the request of boxing coach Peter Fury, they will be sparring partners and assisting Hughie for his upcoming fight on the Anthony Joshua undercard on December 12 at the O2 in London.

“We always strive to be the best,” says Glenn, with understandable pride.

“The fact that we have such high-profile clients on our books speaks volumes for the quality of service the team provide.”

For Glenn, of course, the more his clients grow, the more opportunity Close Protection Security has to grow alongside them.

“That’s the plan,” he smiles.

With the MAP UK contract starting immediately, it was all hands on deck to facilitate clients’ requirements as Glenn began interviewing for a further three members of staff.

“It’s a fantastic feeling to be able to provide jobs in the region, especially given the current climate,” says Glenn.

MAP Group MD Matty adds: “We are delighted to have extended our partnership with CPS, to ensure our properties and depots are safe and secure at all times as we further expand our business.

“We have been working with Glenn and his team for some time now and are really impressed with how reliable and professional CPS are. We look forward to our continued close relationship with them.”
