The second annual Tees Tech Awards, which will again be in association with Middlesbrough Digital and DigitalCity, will feature two new categories – and sponsorship opportunities are available too.
Organisers Tees Business have confirmed the Tees Tech Awards 2021 will take place on Thursday, May 27, as a celebration of the thriving local digital sector.
Following the huge success of the inaugural Tees Tech Awards in August 2020, plans are in place to repeat last year’s virtual event during the ongoing Covid restrictions.
And, following discussions with industry leaders, Tees Business and partners DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital have announced two new categories for this year’s Tech Awards.
The Tees Tech Best Project/Campaign will recognise a project or campaign that stands out for more reasons than one, whether it is the size of the project, the prestige of the client(s), the project’s international reach or the impact it has had.
And the Tees Tech Unsung Hero award will go to someone who has made an outstanding contribution at company and/or sector level whilst remaining “under the radar”, out of the limelight, neither seeking nor receiving publicity but being a crucial component for their business and possibly for the sector generally.
Sponsorship of both new awards is currently available, as is sponsorship for Digital Innovation Award and Digital Newcomer of the Year.
Along with headline sponsors DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital, six sponsors of the inaugural Tees Tech Awards have renewed for 2021 – Middlesbrough College, Jacksons Law Firm, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Punch Robson Solicitors, Azets and Domino’s Teesside.
Martin Walker, director of Tees Business owners Resolution Media and Publishing (above, centre), said: “We’re excited to build on the success of the inaugural Tees Tech Awards with an even more successful event this time around, celebrating the best of the many great local digital businesses we have here.
“We had overcome huge challenges to deliver last year’s awards amid the pandemic and it’s likely we’ll face similar hurdles on this occasion, though we’re also committed to getting people together in a room for a real event if restrictions allow.”
Daniel Watson, manager of Middlesbrough Digital (pictured above, left), said: “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring the Tees Tech Awards again this year, alongside DigitalCity.
“The inaugural awards celebrated some amazing success stories, and definitely shone a spotlight on the sector, so we’re really excited to see what this year brings.”
David Dixon of DigitalCity added: “DigitalCity is delighted to be a headline sponsor of the awards for the second year running.
“Over the years we’ve had the pleasure of supporting some very talented tech companies in the region and this event helps to provide the exposure and recognition that they deserve.”
