Entries open for second annual Tees Tech Awards

Tees Business Digital Media Pack

Entries are now open for the Tees Tech Awards 2021, with two new categories available for the region’s digital businesses and tech leaders to celebrate their successes.

Organised by Tees Business in association with Middlesbrough Digital and DigitalCity, sponsorship opportunities are also available for the virtual awards, which will take place on Thursday, May 27.

Following the huge success of the inaugural Tees Tech Awards in August 2020, plans are in place to repeat last year’s virtual event during the ongoing Covid restrictions.

One of the new categories, the Tees Tech Best Project/Campaign, will recognise a project or campaign that stands out for more reasons than one, whether it is the size of the project, the prestige of the client(s), the project’s international reach or the impact it has had.

And the Tees Tech Unsung Hero award will go to someone who has made an outstanding contribution at company and/or sector level whilst remaining “under the radar”, out of the limelight, neither seeking nor receiving publicity but being a crucial component for their business and possibly for the sector generally.

Other company categories include Digital Company of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Digital Newcomer, Digital Transformation, Digital Innovation and the Tees Tech for Good Award.

Individual nominations can be made for Business Leader of the Year, Tech Ambassador and Rising Star.

Sponsorship of both new awards is currently available, as is sponsorship for Digital Innovation Award and Digital Newcomer of the Year.

Along with headline sponsors DigitalCity and Middlesbrough Digital, sponsors already confirmed include Middlesbrough College, Jacksons Law Firm, Cornerstone Business Solutions, Punch Robson Solicitors, Azets and Domino’s Teesside.

Tees Business executive director Dave Allan said: “The entry and nomination forms are now ready and online to check out which categories might work best for your business or someone you’d like to nominate.

“We recommend people take a look at the questions before deciding which categories are best for them. The quality of entries in the inaugural Tees Tech Awards was impressive and we’re expecting an even higher standard this time around so the competition will be tough.

“But we believe there’s a category for every type of tech firm, for newcomers and for those long-established in the field.”

Deadline for entries to the Tees Tech Awards is 5pm on April 1 2021.

The three-strong shortlist in each category will be decided by the category sponsor, with the category winners decided by scoring from a panel comprising representatives of the category sponsor and four other category sponsors.
