Get in the zone with White Digital

Digital marketing specialists White Digital are celebrating their move to a swanky new office space in Darlington town centre with a series of uplifting virtual networking events streamed live from the company’s cocktail bar.

With the roadmap to lockdown now firmly in place, it hopefully won’t be long before contacts can join the team for a coffee or perhaps something a little stronger!

Until then, MD Doug Dinwiddie and new marketing manager Chloe Page have hit upon the idea of a series of fun networking events where the only subjects off limits are politics, pitching – and Covid!

“If we were hosting events in the office, we’d have a big group of people here who would naturally network in smaller groups around the room, moving from conversation to conversation to meet new people or catch up with existing connections,” said Chloe, pictured above (left).

“People wouldn’t be doing 60-second pitches, they would just be getting to know each other and building their network over a drink from the office’s cocktail menu – so that’s exactly what we are offering over Zoom, minus the cocktails – for now!”

The networking events are already up and running and have proven to be a great success.
Open to anyone in the North-East business community, there’s no limit to the number of people who can attend the event.

“Once everyone has logged onto the call, we assign breakout rooms randomly with a maximum of five people in each and switch the rooms up three times throughout the session, meaning you get the chance to talk to lots of different people,” explained Chloe.

“We also ensure that everyone is tagged into a LinkedIn post after the event so follow-up conversations can be had.

Chloe adds: “The only provision is that you don’t talk about Covid, politics or pitching your business. We’ve implemented these rules because we want to provide a positive zone where people can come and have a good start to their week and escape the continuous talk about Covid and politics we’re finding everywhere else.

“The pitches have been banned because we really want attendees to focus on getting to know the person as opposed to hearing the 60-second spiel about what someone is there to sell.”

The next White Digital network event is on March 15.
