Cornerstone Business Solutions MD Chris Petty believes the Tees Tech Awards are a perfect opportunity to shine the spotlight on a sector experiencing a boom – but too often goes under the radar.
This is the second year in succession that the Stockton-based IT specialists have sponsored the Tees Tech Ambassador category and Chris has been overwhelmed by the strength of each of the entries this time round.
“It will certainly be a tough job to choose the three finalists,” he admitted.
“Having been involved in the tech sector on Teesside for many years now, we have come to know the candidates well and each and every one of them would make a fantastic ambassador.”
Chris is thrilled that a sector which often stays under the radar is finally getting its time in the sun, and with 114 entries received across 11 categories – up from 85 last year – it’s clear just how much momentum the sector is gaining.
“Seeing the massive growth that’s happening now is fantastic,” he said.
“The Tees region as a whole is booming and it’s a great time to live and work here, but for us to see the tech sector grow this way is particularly rewarding. That’s thanks, in part, to events like the Tees Tech Awards which help raise its profile.
“Consequently, there are many companies coming through who people hadn’t heard of before, and the awards are able to shine a spotlight on them, which is great.”
Chris agreed that Teessiders, and digital companies in particular, have never been fond of blowing their own trumpet.
“For whatever reason, we don’t seem to like celebrating our own success, but now is the time to really promote ourselves and keep the momentum going,” he insisted.
“The Tech Awards are created by local people and judged by business leaders we all know and admire. Cornerstone have been involved with many awards, but these are really special and we look forward to continuing to support them as they grow.”
The Tees Tech Awards finalists will be announced in the near future before the winners are then chosen democratically by a group of sponsors ahead of the awards ceremony at Hardwick Hall on the evening of Thursday, July 1.
