Corporate travel specialists have revealed plans to expand their presence in the Tees region as travel restrictions ease.

Dawson & Sanderson Corporate Travel Services is the business travel division of the high street holiday retailer who have been established for almost 60 years.

Operating from call centres in Teesside and North Tyneside, they are the only travel management company (TMC) with a base in the region and offer an extensive global service from their branch in Stockton.

Providing expert advice and service, Dawson & Sanderson specialise in marine and offshore, manufacturing and education travel.

They are members of Focus Travel Partnership, a consortia of independent travel companies, who combined are the largest TMC group in the UK, and the Worldwide International Network (WIN), a group of global expert TMC partners located in more than 70 countries.

Judith Alderson, director of corporate travel, has ambitious plans to expand their operation in the region.

“Our second base in Teesside was opened three years ago when we saw a real need for a travel company to invest in the region and provide global travel management service for companies in the area,” said Judith.

“Our Teesside team have years of experience in the complexities of moving marine personnel and offshore workers and are the appointed TMC to many shipping companies.

“I’m certainly excited by the opportunities for our expansion in the area given the fantastic news of the freeport, offshore wind, Treasury North and the many other developments which will bring new jobs, business and investment to the area.

“Transportation and connectivity are, of course, key and, as the only travel management company based in Teesside, I am confident that we can provide the logistics, expertise and a fantastic local taskforce to get these businesses moving.”

Michael Shakesheff, managing director of Casper Shipping, says the Tees firm has worked closely with Dawson & Sanderson’s corporate travel services for a number of years.

“Judith and her team have always provided a first-class service with just the right balance of professionalism, approachability and problem solving,” said Michael.

“Throughout 2020/21 and the Covid-19 pandemic, Dawson & Sanderson have worked in partnership with Casper Shipping to facilitate the movement of key workers within the maritime sector.

“This role was and continues to be incredibly important to both the maritime sector and the nation as a whole.

“We would like to thank Judith and her team for an exceptional level of service and support during these incredibly difficult times”

Judith added: “Partnering with an informed travel company has never been more important to ensure your personnel travel not only with the correct certification but safely following extensive risk management assessment.

“The government announcement lifting some restrictions is a positive step to recovery for our industry but travel remains complex and needs the expert guidance that we provide.

“One of the industry’s most exciting initiatives, currently being trialled by the world’s leading airlines, is the IATA Travel pass app which is being created to overcome the complexities of travel during Covid-19 and has the ability to store all your covid test certificates, provide accurate test requirement details to travellers, allow governments to authenticate identity and certification and a roadmap to work with vaccination passports as and when this facility is available.
