Shoppers are set to benefit as a loyalty card scheme is launched in Darlington town centre.
Sixty stores have signed up to the ‘Love Darlo Loyalty Card’ including the likes of Superdrug and independent retailers such as Guru, with the aim of bringing more shoppers to the high street.
The cards are free from participating outlets across the retail, hospitality and leisure sector, as well as health, hair and beauty salons.
Customers can receive a stamp for every £10 they spend and once shoppers have gained 10 stamps, they can hand their completed card to a participating venue and they will be entered into a monthly prize draw and six lucky winners will receive a prize.
The first winner will receive £250 worth of vouchers to spend at a store of their choice and five runners up will each win £50 worth of vouchers.
The scheme is being funded by Darlington Borough Council’s town centre team.
Councillor Jonathan Dulston, deputy leader of Darlington Council, said: “We hope this will give customers a greater incentive to use town centre shops.
“The more we can encourage people to shop here, the better for our high street and economy which in turn has a positive impact on everyone who visits, lives and works here.”
Sarah Doudican, of Winroths Hairdressing in Clark’s Yard, said: “It’s a lovely way to ensure that our customers know that we appreciate their loyalty, and to give something back to local residents.”
Alex Nicholson, town centre partnership and events manager, said: “It’s so important that people shop local and we hope residents and visitors to the town will take advantage of the loyalty card, especially as new traders are signing up to be part of the scheme all the time.”
