Award winning law firm Jacksons continues to attract regional talent as it appoints new partner and head of corporate and commercial, Peter Robinson.
Peter is vastly experienced in the field of corporate law, with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, private equity investment, debt finance, group and corporate structures including joint venture and shareholder agreements and arrangements.
Peter has been at partner position since 2003 and is renowned for his project managing of transactions of all types with his non-confrontational “get the job done” approach.
Originally from Dalton le Dale in Co Durham, Peter has over 25 years’ experience working for leading corporate law firms in Newcastle upon Tyne and Yorkshire, and also spent some time in-house with boutique venture capitalist, Gartland Whalley & Barker Plc.
Peter joins the corporate team at a time of significant change to the senior management board at Jacksons, as Jane Armitage steps away from the position of managing partner and Tony Wentworth takes over the reins.
It is not goodbye for Jane as she will be staying on at Jacksons as a consultant, working three days a week when she will continue to maintain strong relationships with clients, while providing advice to the management board and technical advice to the commercial property team.
Tony Wentworth has worked at Jacksons since 1986 having originally joined the firm as a trainee.
He was made a partner and head of corporate and commercial in 1994. He has, most recently, supported Jane in her role as managing partner and his long-standing experience and knowledge of Jacksons makes him the ideal candidate to be Jane’s successor.
Tony said: “We have been planning these changes for a long time and everything has fallen into place with Peter’s appointment, which will enable me to devote more of my time to the management of the firm. The timing could not be better.
“The corporate team are in very good hands as Peter brings with him a huge amount of business experience that our business clients will benefit from.
“I look forward to working with Peter in his new role and we will continue to deliver the best possible service to our clients and capitalise on the many opportunities that lie ahead.”
Peter added: “It is a genuinely exciting time to be joining Jacksons as the business evolves and grows. The firm is progressive and dynamic, with different people from different backgrounds on board as partners and has a clear openness and willingness to listen to new ideas.
“The people at Jacksons have worked hard on developing this culture in the last few years and in doing so have built a great team for the future. This attracted me and I am really pleased to be joining the team and to be part of that.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know the teams, building on existing relationships and developing our corporate service offering.
“Altogether we can bring a huge amount of business experience and technical know-how to help clients achieve their aims. We aim always to become trusted advisors to our clients and to bring a human, personal touch to bear.”
