New Year, new business opportunities, as EMS brings back Inspiration USA for 2022

“It wasn’t just business-changing, it was life-changing.”

That was the verdict of business owners who took part in Enterprise Made Simple’s Inspiration USA programme in the first three months of 2020, with many growing their business by an average of 50 per cent.

And now, with the travel restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic behind us – fingers crossed – Inspiration USA is back for 2022.

Phil Teasdale, CEO of Middlesbrough-based Enterprise Made Simple, is now looking for ambitious business owners who want to take part and learn from some of the most successful entrepreneurs in the world.

The business training organisation is also looking to attract corporate sponsors for the programme, who stand to receive numerous benefits for getting involved, including the opportunity to present to potential new clients in the UK and the USA.

Phil explained that the three-month Inspiration USA programme includes a trip to Boston in the States, as well as residential training in the UK, with visitors from the USA joining in the third month.

Phil is sure there will be plenty of interest in the programme from businesses who are looking to grow and develop and want a “unique” and “different” experience to do that through training and networking.

The ideal candidates for the programme are not necessarily business owners who want to trade in America, although this is a good opportunity for those who do, but the programme will benefit any business looking to grow or innovate.

“Ambitious businesses are the ones we want and we are starting to put together a list of interested business owners from across the Tees Valley,” says Phil.

“We are also looking for businesses to sponsor the programme and these would get the opportunity to present to businesses on the programme, including the American businesses we work with.

“These businesses would also be featured on the substantial social media and other marketing that we do, as well as being featured in all the workbooks and printed information for the programme.”

Phil explains sponsorship provides an excellent opportunity to grow brand awareness.

Any Tees Valley-based sponsors will also not only have a great opportunity to promote their own business, but also to make a real difference to other growing businesses in the local area.

“Becoming a sponsor could be an amazing investment into our area,” he says. “It could literally change someone’s life.”

Speaking of the success business owners who took part in 2020 have enjoyed, Phil adds: “Even in spite of Covid, the businesses who took part and went to America have actually created 35 jobs and, on average, many of the businesses have grown by at least 50 per cent.

“Many have begun trading in different ways, looked at new market opportunities and entered new markets.”

In America, Phil has already lined up some “big name” sponsors and guest speakers who will be making presentations.

This is in addition to partners Venture Café in Cambridge, Babson College – dubbed the best college for entrepreneurs – the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the British American Business Council of New England (BABCNE).

“These organisations all have the potential to open up opportunities for businesses here in Teesside, where we are also focused on the opportunities opening up because of our freeport status and the jobs coming up here from the Treasury,” Phil says.

“As we are looking ahead to a new year, if you are looking at how to innovate in your business, Inspiration USA could provide the perfect opportunity for you.”
